Starry Starry Night in Oglala

I took the photo "Starry Starry Night" shortly after midnight during a visit to the Oglala Grasslands in Nebraska's panhandle, July 30, 2017. The visit was part of my two-week Foto Safari in 2017 with a small car loaded with gear and family. The journey covered 4000 miles and included many stops along the way. The trip to the Grasslands was my first time visiting an area with a very minimum of light pollution. Living in Florida, you become accustomed to the light pollution that obscures the night sky. That night in Nebraska was the darkest sky I had ever seen. It was here that I also saw the Andromeda Galaxy for the first time. It's that bright spot near the top to the right.

It's available in two sizes as Metal Prints.
