Starry Starry Night in Oglala

I took the photo "Starry Starry Night" shortly after midnight during a visit to the Oglala Grasslands in the panhandle of Nebraska, July 30, 2017. The visit was part of my two-week Foto Safari in 2017 with a small car loaded with gear and family. The journey covered 4000 miles and included many stops along the way. The trip to the Grasslands was my first time visiting an area with a very minimum of light pollution. Living in Florida, you become accustomed to the light pollution that obscures the night sky. That night in Nebraska was the darkest sky I had ever seen. It was here that I also saw the Andromeda Galaxy for the first time. It's that bright spot near the top to the right.

I have prints of Starry Starry Night available on Hahnemühle's Photo Rag® Metallic. The natural white cotton paper contains no optical brighteners and has the characteristic Photo Rag® surface structure and sumptuous feel. Photo Rag® Metallic features an exceptional silvery-shimmering surface finish. The print looks fantastic!

It's available in three sizes.

  • 10x15 - Printed on an 11x17 sheet of Photo Rag Metallic - $100

  • 12x18 - Printed on a 13x19 sheet of Photo Rag Metallic - $150
